Privacy Information

Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified, or reasonably identifiable, individual. The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (the department) is collecting personal information from you via Citizen Space. We will collect this information at the time that you submit your survey. This survey is for the purpose of consulting on the rapid review of PBS medicines for RRMS.

To protect privacy, please do not include personal information about another individual, such as a family member or medical practitioner (third party) in your input. If you need to include information about another individual in your survey response, you will need to inform that individual of the contents of this notice and obtain their consent to the department collecting their personal information.

Certain questions—like your name and email address—are mandatory. This is so that we can contact you if we have any questions relating to your feedback. If you do not provide the required information, you will not be able to submit the survey.

How your input will be used

The department routinely shares consultation input with the PBAC and its subcommittees. The department shares:

Consultation input from groups/organisations in full, after redacting any personal information of third parties (if applicable).

Consultation input from individuals:

  • with the PBAC and its subcommittees in full, after redacting any personal information of third parties (if applicable). That is, your personal details will not be redacted.

From time to time, the department may also share your consultation input with:

Other Health Technology Assessment Committees. If another HTA committee, such as the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), is reviewing the application, the department may share PBAC consultation input with that committee or its subcommittees. The department shares the input in the same format as provided to PBAC and its subcommittees.

Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Groups/Medical Writers, to inform their reports to the PBAC. The department contracts HTA Groups and medical writers to prepare documents that help PBAC with its deliberations, such as summaries of consultation input. If HTA Groups receive copies of consultation input, it is in the same format as provided to the PBAC and its subcommittees.

Committee members and HTA Groups/Medical Writers are subject to confidentiality obligations.

Video or audio recordings

The department is unable to edit consultation input provided in video or audio form. As such, the department shares video or audio input from groups, organisations, and individuals in full (unless it includes potentially identifying information about a third party) with:

  • with the PBAC and its subcommittees
  • HTA Groups.

If video or audio input from a group, organisation, or individual includes potentially identifying information about a third party the department will share the input in a written, de-identified summary form with the PBAC and its subcommittees, and HTA groups contracted by the department. The summary will not identify individuals but may include the name of the submitting group or organisation (if applicable).
